About ISM

ISM stands for Independent Study & Mentorship, and it is a class offered to high school students in Frisco ISD who are selected through a rigorous application and interview process. In ISM, students choose a topic of study to research throughout the year and become more knowledgeable about, while collecting all their findings in a portfolio. Students go out and conduct research interviews with professionals in their chosen fields, and then select a mentor to learn from and meet with on a weekly basis. At the end of the year, all students present a final project and their overall experience at Final Presentation Night in a 30-40 minute speech. ISM develops valuable communication and interview skills, preparing students for success in both college and a future career.
